On Tuesday March 31, 2009 the Plumsted
Township Board of Education unanimously approved the
2009-2010 budget. This year our district was very fortunate
to receive a 5% increase in state aid. Because of wise
budgeting and the additional state aid, this Board was able
to propose a minimal increase of only 2.25%. Read

At the last regular meeting of the
Plumsted Township Board of Education, Board Members and the
public were treated to a presentation given by Mr. Robert
Burkhardt, Principal of the Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary
School. The presentation showcased a year at the Elementary
School. Snapshots and video clips highlighted the school
year from the student’s first day to the end of the year
celebrations.

At the last regular meeting of the
Plumsted Township Board of Education, Board Members and the
public were treated to a presentation given by the High
School Principal, Mrs. Elizabeth Panella. Mrs. Panella
showed a video highlighting the “heart and soul” of our high
school.

by the Middle School Principal Mrs. Andrea Caldes. Mrs.

The October 22nd Plumsted
Township Board of Education meeting was a night filled with
presentations and announcements. The evening began with the
induction of six new members to the New Egypt High School
National Honor Society.

On September 24th, 2008 the
Board of Education held its first regular meeting with our
new Superintendent Dr. Mark DeMareo. During the
superintendent’s comment section of the meeting, Dr. DeMareo
reported about the High School Principal interview process.

The end of the summer is upon us and with
that we are saying goodbye to our Interim Superintendent,
Dr. Robert Smith. Dr Smith has served as Plumsted’s Chief
School Administrator for the past eight months.

Approximately one year ago the Plumsted
Township Board of Education began the arduous process of
searching for a suitable superintendent for our district. On
July 28, 2008, at a special meeting of the Plumsted Township
Board of Education, the Board appointed Dr. Mark DeMareo as
the Plumsted Township Superintendent of Schools.

07/28/2008 The week of
June 16th was a busy and exciting week for
many students in the Plumsted Township School District.
Not only were there end of the year picnics, and
parties, but two graduation ceremonies were held.

was a busy night at the regular Plumsted Township Board
of Education meeting. The evening began with four
presentations. The Elementary School Chorus and their
Director Mr. Kenneth Beere treated the audience to a
brief performance.

05/28/2008 On Wednesday
April 30th The Plumsted Township Board of
Education held its annual reorganization meeting. I am
very pleased to say that the budget passed. Thankfully,
because of the increase in state aid, the Board was able
to propose a budget that meets the needs of our students
while at the same time is mindful of the burden to the
taxpayers.

04/30/2008 On Wednesday
March 26, 2008 the Plumsted Township Board of Education
approved a 2008-2009 school funding plan that results in
no tax increase. Due to the influx of state aid, school
spending will increase by about seven percent. The
proposed budget was approved by a vote of 4 to 1. Read

began our last regular meeting on February 27, 2008 with
three presentations. The Board was privileged to open
the meeting with a National Honor Society induction
ceremony.

As we move forward with our
superintendent search, I want to make sure that our
community is as informed as possible. On August 22,
2007 the Board of Education entered into a contract with
(NJSBA) New Jersey School Boards Association. This
contract enables NJSBA to facilitate our superintendent
search.

At the January 30th Board of
Education meeting the Board was honored to congratulate
students, a coach, and a faculty member. The meeting
began with presentations to seven of our high school
students who placed at the recent Future Business
Leaders of America Regional Competition.

At the November 5th Board of
Education meeting the Board of Education accepted with
regrets the resignation of Mrs. Christine Carlson. I
would like to thank Mrs. Carlson for her years of
dedication and service to our district.

School is back in session and everyone seems to be in the
swing of things. We are extremely pleased with the success
of our back to school nights. The turnout was phenomenal.
We would like to thank the teachers and administrators for
all of their hard work and preparation.

In a few short days, another summer vacation will be over
and nearly nineteen hundred students will be filling the
classrooms of our schools. Everyone is excited to start a

The past month has brought some changes to
the Plumsted Township School District. Three administrators
have decided to continue their educational careers
elsewhere. Superintendent Gerald North resigned and has
accepted a position as the Principal of Marlboro High
School.

The Plumsted Township Board of
Education consolidated administrative staff to reduce
reliance on Impact Aid Funding for current operating
expenses. During the May 30th Plumsted
Township Board of Education meeting, the Board adopted
the recommendations of Superintendent Jerry North to
consolidate a supervisor of guidance position, and to
approve Andrea Raniero principal of the New Egypt Middle
School effective July 1st 2007.
