Mrs. Williams "What's In My Suitcase" wins an Emmy!
Mrs. Rita Williams along with second grade teachers Mrs. Kristin Abate, Mrs. Courtney Adelung, Mrs. Megan Castro, Mrs. Jana Kekesi, Mrs. Cheryl Marinari and Mrs. Cara Sapiezynski at Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School received an Emmy for a NJEA Close-up called “What’s in my suitcase?”. The show was about teaching the Holocaust through art. Mrs. Williams believes all children need to be aware of the Holocaust and what better way but through art. We should all be proud of Mrs. Williams and the Second Grade Team, because how many schools can say they have a real Emmy? You can see the program and award on youtube NJEA Closeup.
Veteran’s Day at Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School was filled with Veterans. Mrs. Karen Brown, Mrs. Ginger White and Mrs. Rita Williams along with teachers put together a Veteran’s Day assembly to remember. The students in Mrs. Williams art class made works of art for the Veterans and each one went home with a little remembrance of the day. The chorus, directed by Mr. Ken Beere, sang songs honoring the men and women veterans. Mrs. Heather Collins and Mrs. Alyse Kreig ended the program with a beautiful slideshow of pictures of Vets that the students brought from their families and friends.
