    Letter from the Principal

Welcome to the Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School. Many factors go into providing students with the superior education they will receive at Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School. Teachers and staff are committed to creating and maintaining a safe learning environment for all students. Together, we work every day to provide students with a positive, caring school climate and culture to enable them to blossom intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

At Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School, teachers are committed to helping every child maximize his or her potential. Technology is incorporated into the learning process and teachers focus on expanding student's creativity to  help them solve real world problems. By focusing on the child as a whole, teachers are helping students develop life-long learning skills.

In addition to developing academic skills, we work to develop good individual character and citizenship in every student. A school with a positive climate is one where students and staff are kind, caring, and help one another in every way possible, every day.

Numerous studies show that children do better in school when their parents/guardians are involved and take an interest in their education. Parents/guardians, please take advantage of the many opportunities you will have to be involved in your child's education and maintain an open line of communication with your child's teachers throughout the entire school year.

Students, come to school prepared to be engaged and challenged by your teachers each day and they will help you achieve your personal best. At Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School, we are committed to helping every child, every day, whatever it takes.

    Sincerely,

    Walter Therien

  • Mrs. Williams "What's In My Suitcase" wins an Emmy!

Mrs. Rita Williams along with second grade teachers Mrs. Kristin Abate, Mrs. Courtney Adelung, Mrs. Megan Castro, Mrs. Jana Kekesi, Mrs. Cheryl Marinari and Mrs. Cara Sapiezynski at Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School received an Emmy for a NJEA Close-up called “What’s in my suitcase?”.  The show was about teaching the Holocaust through art.  Mrs. Williams believes all children need to be aware of the Holocaust and what better way but through art.  We should all be proud of Mrs. Williams and the Second Grade Team, because how many schools can say they have a real Emmy? You can see the program and award on youtube NJEA Closeup.

Veteran’s Day at Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School was filled with Veterans.  Mrs. Karen Brown, Mrs. Ginger White and Mrs. Rita Williams along with teachers put together a Veteran’s Day assembly to remember.  The students in Mrs. Williams art class made works of art for the Veterans and each one went home with a little remembrance of the day. The chorus, directed by Mr. Ken Beere, sang songs honoring the men and women veterans.  Mrs. Heather Collins and Mrs. Alyse Kreig ended the program with a beautiful slideshow of pictures of Vets that the students brought from their families and friends.
