 Achieve 3000 is a differentiated, five step on-line program that is a great way to help your child become a stronger reader and writer. If your child applies themselves to using this program they will become a stronger more confident reader. Your child will learn to use this program to get the full benefit of what it has to offer. This program has helped students to gain confidence and become stronger readers! I am very excited to continue with this program.
Within the program, we have a "read aloud" time, where the students listen to and talk with each other about the story being read. During this time, the children are exposed to many different genres in literature while learning a variety of skills and strategies to enhance their reading. The whole group lessons encourage the children to interact while learning new concepts and vocabulary. The students also meet in small groups with the teacher to work on strategies and skills that are individualized to their specific levels and needs. During this time, the other students will be sharpening their skills while doing independent work.
Please continue to encourage your child to read at home every night! Having them read will help increase their fluency and comprehension skills. Better yet, have them read aloud to you or a sibling.
