PLEASE check your child's home work planner on a daily basis. I check and sign it each day to be sure that your child has correctly written their daily assignment. You can also check to be sure that those listed assignments are completed! Read below for a basic outline of homework for each subject.
Math: The students will have assignments each night, Monday through Thursday, to review the concepts taught in class. They will also be given a math facts page. Also, please make sure to have your child study and/or practice their math facts. The more fluent they are, the easier it will be for your child to find success in math. This can be done verbally, online, playing games, or any other way you feel will help your child. Please note that study materials will be sent home prior to any tests given.
Reading: It is expected that each child will read at least 20 minutes every night. Please encourage your child to read and initial in their planner if they have done so. If it is easier, below is a reading log that you can print out and log your child's reading each week.
Writing: To become a better writer it is imperative that the children become better spellers and have good mechanics. This happens through spelling and grammar practice. Your child will also be doing a "Quick Write" roughly two times a week to help them become stronger in this area. These writings are based on a variety of topics that will be specifically assigned by me.
Friday Folders: Every Friday, your child will receive a Friday Folder. This folder will contain important information about our school and classroom, along with your child’s work. Please look through the contents, sign the sheet, and return the folder to school on Monday, or the first day back after the weekend. As always, please feel free to call, write, or email me if you have any questions or concerns. My extension is 3205.
