Math
This year we will be using resources such as McGraw-Hill's My Math materials where students are continuously making connections to their everyday living experiences. Our instructional time will focus on four critical areas: developing understanding of multiplication and division and strategies for multiplication and division within 100; developing understanding of fractions, especially unit fractions (fractions with numerator 1); developing understanding of the structure of rectangular arrays and of area; and describing and analyzing two-dimensional shapes. This includes frequent practices of basic math skills and the use of mental math in all applications. The children will be exposed to many concepts and be engaged in multiple interactive resources such as foldables that take learning to a new dimension, vocabulary cards to build strong language skills, homework, and online collaboration. Students will feel empowered to succeed with personalized resources that fit their interests and needs.
