Fundations, Spelling & Grammar
This year we will be continuing the Fundations program. The children will be learning spelling patterns and rules, while tapping out and "breaking down" words. By using the Fundations program and learning the rules of spelling as well as sounds, the children are learning that they can be better spellers. The beauty of the program is they learn why words are spelled the way they are and are not just learning to spell words for a weekly spelling test. The children will be encouraged to use these tools to help them in other areas of school, especially writing! Please note there is Fundations homework several times each week. In addition, there will also be a Daily Grammar "Do Now" page given in school each day which introduces new grammatical concepts as well as spiraling and revisiting concepts previously taught. This helps the children become familiar with grammatical terms and "rules".
