• Parents/Guardians will be notified by phone or a note home if a student receives a blow to the head/face/throat, whether they show signs of injury or not. Bruising, swelling or signs of concussion may not appear right away.

    • Parents/Guardians will also be notified of suspected sprains, jammed fingers, fractures, etc. If your child is experiencing severe pain, swelling and cannot bend or move an injured joint, I will recommend that your child be seen by a physician for further evaluation and diagnosis. If your child is given a splint, brace, cast, sling, or boot for their injury, a doctor's note must be provided and state accommodations they may need in school, if any. Exclusion from gym/sports for a specified time period should also be in the note. No gym=No recess.

    •  If your child needs to use crutches at school, a note from a doctor or the emergency room is mandatory and should state that your child can safely use crutches in school, on stairs (if applicable) and getting on and off the bus. For safety purposes, a child with crutches and no note cannot stay in school and will be sent home.
