• Parents/Guardians will be notified by phone, Parent Square message or a note home, if a student bumps their head, whether they show signs of injury or not. Bruising, swelling or signs of concussion may not appear right away. They will be evaluated and re-assessed throughout the day.

    • Parents/Guardians will also be notified of suspected sprains, jammed fingers, fractures, etc. If your child is experiencing severe pain, swelling and cannot bend or move an injured joint, I will recommend that your child be seen by a physician for further evaluation and diagnosis. If your child is given a splint, brace, cast, sling, or boot for their injury, a doctor's note must be provided and state accommodations they may need in school, if any. Exclusion from gym/sports for a specified time period should also be in the note. No gym will also mean modified recess depending on the injury.

    • If your child needs to use crutches at school, a note from a doctor or the emergency room is mandatory before your student returns to school. It should state that your child can safely use crutches in school, on stairs (if applicable). For safety purposes, a child with crutches and no note cannot stay in school and will be sent home.
    • If your student requires crutches, please make arrangements with the main office regarding drop off and pick up times as the student will temporarily need to be a car rider.
