It's February! We made it through the first month of 2019! This month is Bookworm month in 2nd grade. Students are asked to continue to read 20 minutes each night as part of their daily homework. Once a book is completed or chapter or set of chapters in a chapter book have been read, students are asked to complete a book project. Projects were sent home in a packet with instructions in your child's Friday folder. Please complete the body of the worm first. Then, feel free to have your "bookworm" complete any other projects they would like. For example, if your child loves the octopus, they may complete that project as many times as they would like. Additional copies of the project will be kept in the classroom. Please have your bookworm write, color and cut out each project at home and then send them into school as they are completed. Students are asked to complete a total of 8 projects by February 28th. We will have a bookworm costume party on March 1st to celebrate all of our hard work in correlation with Bookworm month. Students are asked to dress up like a character from a book and provide the class with 3 clues as to who they may be. During our costume party the students will celebrate by receiving certificates, prizes, snacks, and viewing a movie of a chapter book we are reading aloud. If you have any questions about Bookworm Month, please don't hesitate to ask.
